Stuart was truly thrilled to be invited to speak at a one day workshop held in Dunelm House in Durham CIty. It's aim was to explore the views and vistas of Durham, both past and present, looking at how the city has physically changed and developed over time and how these changes have been represented by artists past and present. Stuart was among a highly distinguished line up of speakers including Dennis Rodwell, Architectural Adviser to UNESCO, Dr Adrian Green, Director of Postgraduate Studies, Durham University, Prof Douglas Pocock, author and Secretary of The City of Durham Trust, Martin Roberts Architect and author and Jane Gibson, Durham City World Heritage Site Co-Ordinator. Stuart would like to offer his special thanks to Prof Ludmilla Jordanova, former trustee of The National Portrait Gallery, Professor of History and Director of the Centre for Visual Arts and Culture, who effortlessly conducted the hour long interview examining the nuts and bolts of being a present day artists and especially one specialising in the production of architectural landscape depictions of Durham City.

The Anglican Shrine at Walsingham is of global importance to the Anglican Church. Stuart was greatly moved by the enthusiastic response of all attending and as such would like to offer his heartfelt thanks for the kindest of commendations and special thanks to Shrine Administrator Fr Kevin Smith, Philip North, Bishop of Burnley and Master of The Shrine Guardians and Mr John Booth, Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex and Chair of the Pallent House Gallery. St Mary's Horden was packed with parishoners and members of the clergy to witness a solemn mass of thanksgiving for the 100th anniversary of the church's dedication in 1913. The one and a half hour service was led by Father Kevin Smith, Vicar of Horden with a homily by The Rt Rev'd and Rt Hon Lord Hope of Thornes, former Archbishop of York. The bishops of Jarrow and Beverley were also noteable in attendance and it was they who to rapturous applause, unveiled stuart's painting of St Mary's entitled 'The Miners Cathedral' in the nearbye Miners Wellfare Hall after the completion of the service. The painting will be on temporary display within the church until the new year after which it will be permanently housed within the church hall on completion of a planned half million pound refurbishment. 28/03/2013

The exhibition will run from the 2nd until the 31st of December 2011, with images posted on this website as soon as possible.
The opening night which was held on August the 27th 2010 proved to be a huge success almost half the paintings, primarily views of Durham it’s Cathedral and Castle, being sold.
The event was particularly well attended despite the gallery being somewhat small, with over 60 people braving the crush. The outgoing Bishop of Durham and University Chancellor Bill Bryson were unfortunately unable to attend because of prior commitments but notable was the presence of the City M. P. Roberta Blackman Woods an avid exhibition buff who graciously described Stuart as a modern day Turner. The event was also attended by Architect Royston Thomas the most eminent architectural photographer in the region and Architect Alex Henderson M.B.E. and member of the R.I.B.A.'s Architect's Benevolent Society to name but a few.
